Maica laughed looking at her younger brother in his homemade superman costume. He took her by the hands and twirled her in a circle. Maica laughed harder.
"Dale, Dale, no, not right now," Maica explained, grinning at the five year old. Dale's smile fell from his face, and he "awed" at the suggestion. Maica frowned at her brother.
"Don't 'aww' me, Dale. It's no fair," Maica explained in a five year old manor. Dale grinned at the 17 year old, red headed, freckled face girl.
Dale ran away from her into the green yard, his arms spread out like wings. He made a "wooshing" sound, like he was an airplane, and found himself again with his sister. He fell at her feet, his red hair splattered on the ground. He looked up at his sister, giving her a small and toothy smile.
"Did you know that superman was an alien?" Dale asked, standing up and skipping to the play structure. His cape was flying up and down, and over his head. He climbed up the ladder as if he were a grown man. He plopped down on the wooden structure, grinning in peace. He pat his hands on the wood, as if he were lying on a fluffy bed.
"Yes, as a matter of fact, I did," Maica responded. She had her arms crossed over her small body, walking as if she were kicking sand on a beach. Dale went over on his side, resting his body on his arm. A big grin spread on his face and he hopped up in order to get onto the slide. As he slid down, he threw his hands up in the air, laughing and hollering loudly. Maica ran over in a girly fashion to the end of the slide. Dale looked up at his sister as he sat at the end of the slide, and Maica threw her hands underneath his armpits and picked him up in the air. She then flew in a circle, enjoying herself thoroughly. Dale was also laughing tremendously with his older sister.
Maica stopped for a moment and rubbed her nose up against her younger brother's. All Maica had was her brother. When she was twelve, her mother and father had died in an accident on the way to the grocery store to pick a birthday cake up for her. It was the day before her birthday. Maica was sitting her little baby brother, preparing for her 13th birthday. When a social worker came knocking at the door, Maica refused to let her little brother go.
They were transferred from then on from foster home to foster home, and Maica barely made any friends she stayed friends with. None of the parents kept either of them, for some reason, having a smarter older sister who took care of her younger brother better than any of them was a bad thing to have. She practically was like the care taker to her brother. Dale was the closest thing Maica had.
Maica heard Dale gasp, and she looked up to see a giant black hunk of metal hanging in the sky covered in strange markings. The marks all seemed triangular and surrounding a center from a circle also elaborating in the same types of marks. They all glowed a mysterious light purple color, almost a neon. The ship itself appeared to be a triangular fashion. Dale's eyes widened in excitement of the ship, while Maica's eyes widened in horror. Dale clapped his hands, and pointed up at the U.F.O.
"Look, Maica! It's an alien ship!" Dale exclaimed. Maica shook her head, holding her brother close to her chest.
"No, Dale...I... Uhm... Think it's a military vehicle." Maica began to walk away towards their foster home. Dale tried to push Maica off of him to get closer to the ship that was landing on the green grass. Maica held him even tighter to her chest in protection. "No, Dale! Don't you even think about it!"
The ship made a loud creak before it landed, as if the engines were roaring in exhaustion. The wind from the underneath of the ship grew stronger, nearly pushing Maica and her brother over. Maica was strong, like her father, and held her ground. Something in her wanted to run, and something in her was curious to see more. For some reason, her feet wouldn't come close to moving though, as if she were claiming her territory. The ship landed on it's side so Maica and Dale could view the triangle. The marks seemed to swirl together in a blinding circle, and the center somehow opened. A ramp seemed to just shoot out of the center, and three men appeared.
Two men seemed to have the complexion of a human being, more of a peachy color. Two of the men held swords in their hands with similar glowing marks on the blade, like the ship's hull. They seemed much larger than the third who stood in the middle, in height and in muscle mass. They had metallic armor that covered their chests, arms, legs, and the sides of their face. Their ears looked like humans, but stretched out and flopped over, almost like dog's ears. Their eyes seemed to have black slits, but a circle around them glowed in abnormal, neon colors. The two muscular men had green, neon eyes. They almost seemed like cat eyes. The man in the middle was obviously different from the two men on either side of him. He stuck out like a sore thumb, while the other two seemed nearly identical. He was obviously important. His skin was a different color, more of a rainy-day-cloud gray. He appeared much shorter than the other men, and his eyes were a piercing gold, like a black cat's. His glare seemed cold and menacing as he eyed the fearful girl and her brother. He sent a hand signal to the guards and they marched forward down the ramp. The ramp ended at least twenty yards away from Maica and her brother.
Dale was suddenly clinging to Maica, frightened by the negative energy coming from the beings. Maica backed up, trying to get some separation between her and the aliens. She observed her surroundings, and her situation was not good. It was sunny out, standing on flat terrain, and there was nowhere to hide. There was practically no safe place for herself and her brother at the moment. She was holding the most precious item in the world, and the three men stood not too far away from her. If she had been alone, she would've ran away to get the aliens on a different track, but her life wasn't the only to spare.'
The man in the middle blinked, holding his arms behind his back. Maica stared him down the most, observed his behavior the most of them all. To her, he seemed like the type who gave order, not received them. The aliens had taken barely any steps, and now stood no more than six yards in front of Maica and Dale.
"What are you?" the man in the middle questioned, cocking his head to the side.
Maica thought up at least twelve different sarcastic remarks she could have used, but her life wasn't the only one at steak. She positioned Dale the furthest away from the three men.
"I am a human being," Maica responded. She still snapped a bit, a grim look on her face. The man pulled down his collar to reveal a menacing smirk. He took a few more steps toward her, revealing that he wasn't as small as she thought.
"I'm afraid I don't like your tone," the gray skinned man remarked. He stood over her, at least three feet taller than she was. Maica clinger to her brother, taking small steps backward. She thought up again a ring of answers in her head, but didn't know what to say. She chose one.
"I'm afraid you don't have too," she snapped. She cursed her response and herself. The smart alec in her just kept coming out. The alien smiled at her, almost pleased.
"Miss-."
"-Maica," she interrupted. She was now at least a foot away from the alien.
"Maica," the man raised his eyebrow in interest. "Very well, the I must be aware that your species with primitive knowledge, you must not be aware with whom you are speaking..." Zuroi turned for his profile to face Maica. His glare stayed on her as he observed her up and down. Maica snarled at him a bit, still staring him down. Zruoi raised an eyebrow at her again. "You... Obviously do not care. I am Prince Zuroi Ma'Len the Third of Galacia." He turned again to face her, enjoying his glory far too much.
Maica nodded her head. "You're right, I don't care." A smug grin fell on her face, filled with sarcasm.
Dale tugged on Maica's shoulders, half crying. Zuroi sharply turned his head to face the crying red head. He seemed to be growling in protection, but stopped when he noticed the small boy. Maica stood her ground, though she too, was frightened. Dale began to wail in fear. Maica tried to calm him down a bit, patting his back, not loosing eye contact with the alien.
"What is this? Did I stroll upon a protective mother?" Zuroi questioned, smirking. Maica held Dale away from Zuroi.
"He's my brother," she hissed. "Touch him, and you will regret it.." she threatened, holding her brother tightly. Zuroi nodded his head at Maica. He grabbed hold of her chin sharply, taking her by surprise.
"You think you can scare me, don't you? You poor little thing," Zuroi grinned harder. The father in him was coming out, the tyrant, evil leader. He took her chin, and jutted it up so that he look directly into her eyes. His eyes wandered around her face, dancing back and forth. Maica inhaled deeply quite fast in her. "How unfortunate."
Maica forced her head out of his hands and found the one pressure point on all men. As Zuroi keeled over in pain, Maica ran away with her brother as fast as her small legs could carry her. She ran up the hill and onto the street, taking a left into the road. She continued to run until she reached the end of the street, and she almost knew that her new enemy was following her from behind. She tried to find a safe place to hide, but there was none. When she looked behind her, no one was there.
